waterrrr...

currently listening to: dirty laundry; bitter:sweet
currently craving: water
currently, currently: have i really not gone to bed by 7 am?

I AM HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE!!!! ta-da! my (official) online portfolio. you may call it my website, yes that is fine. click on me!! tell me what you think.

here is an oldie. this was the only thing i had up for a while. although i still like the design.

here is a REAL oldie. i think i spelled "dimensional" wrong? i may be embarrassed of that one...

my cargo account got deleted. it was such a great web-hosting site for artists, and its safe to say i'm PRETTY ticked i don't have mine any longer. you have to apply for an account to get one, and now you have to pay money for it? ughhhh. i'm cheap.

and i said i was done with my computer over sb...hah. real life; here it is.

throwing chapstick at a fan

currently listening to: no turning back, gui boratto
currently craving: a better movie
currently, currently: empty dunn bros cup

i just watched the informant, and let me just say, i had no idea what was going on, at any point in the movie. maybe if i took some finance classes, or a business class, or even knew anything about business i could have kept on track with the plot. maybe i am just part of a small percentage of people who couldn't keep up, but i had a perpetual crease in my forehead, the kind you get where one eyebrow is up and your head is turned to the side...you are completely lost and feel pretty dumb. well i admit it, all i knew was that someone was getting in trouble and i couldn't keep anyone's name straight.

to make up for sounding pretty dumb, i will tell you that i did start reading the secret life of bees, which i remember hearing alot of fuss over a schwile ago. i remember hearing about it being on some top-selling charts, or an oprah reading list of some sort, and i found it in my basement on a bookshelf. i really like how its written, so smooth and creamy-like. i asked my mom about it and found out it was made into a movie? i had no idea. back to feeling dumb again.

also, i am on spring break. my plan? try and stay away from anything that has to do with art. i mean it, i have an art migraine...i'm just left thinking, "well now what i am i supposed to do?" while scratching my head. so far, i have gone on a day trip to osceola wisconsin to look at a car, threw chapstick at a fan for an hour with kyle, accidentally painted my nails lime green, and got lost watching matt damon. i am perfectly ok with not having a real plan. a feeble, yet quite serious fist in the air to all you cancun-ers. so sorry no design posts, i'm sure you're all disappointed ;)

you know what i will share? a picture of my niece. i get to brag, and you get to read. tell me she is not a doll. she looks just like my brother...in a cute girlish way :)

i do hope that you love and appreciate the music of the talking heads. but did you know they made a concert film titled 'stop making sense' ? i just found this out and watched most of it online. i didn't even know what i was missing!!! david byrne is so crazy entertaining to watch perform, i was smiling the whole way through :D :D you'd be doing yourself a favor to watch this!!!!

steal, don't borrow

currently listening to: speaking terms, sui generis
currently craving: getting paid
currently, currently: tummy ache :/

found this pretty interesting concept while minorly stalking some band members, of a band that will go unnamed! the main point of this site is to "send and receive anonymous questions, and learn more about people you find interesting by following their answers." i know not having a twitter and deleting my facebook is very intentional. i don't want to have so much of myself exposed, although most of it is controlled by the user. however! for some reason, i was really intrigued by this concept; the anonymity of the questions makes it kind of exciting :) so humor me, and maybe ask me a question or two. i'll see how this goes for a little...

my latest design gig. here's a poster i made for a show at the underground with bands like take cover, all the right moves, hyland, and the avenue. i'm actually pretty excited to go to this too :)

here are a few images that have inspired me lately...do not be surprised if some elements are used in my new work! i once heard a wise artist tell me "good artists barrow. great artists steal." i can't help but to agree.

i loveee shapes!! now go, and steal away!! just not from me...:p

rainbow stache

currently listening to: angel echoes, four tet
currently craving: a little nature walk
currently, currently: cold coffee

first glimpse of green moss today!!!! :] :] :]
HELLO SPRING!!!!!

gpoyw.

i saw this picture today, and the amount of time i spent laughing...!!!! ahahaha

and this!!! what theeee!!!

changethethought. i have gotten so much inspiration from this site. i don't even know what to call it, but it has errything from 3d graphics, to politics, to graffiti, to type. i love it, and am reluctant to share it, but its too good!

their poster series "type specimen posters" is really similar to what i'm working on right now! i like where they're going with these, & i want to see more. mine is the second one; not quite the same idea...but obviously both influenced by lawrence weiner, whether we think so or not.

designer nick tassone made these sweet stephen king poster series that i was immediately drawn to. i think he's pretty young, but i would definitely say up & coming! so sweet.

visual slash audio crack

currently listening to: majik, 10-20
currently craving: a vacation alone :)
currently, currently: inhaled too much cologne...

you know what i thought of today! the more time i spend by myself, the happier i am! i mean it. i noticed that i allow people to affect me negatively...i know i allow it. i just can't figure out how to stop it. and until i do, spending time alone, with myself, is the happiest remedy. i really had a great day! browsing art catalogues online, sifting through my own work, documenting life, rearranging my room. either i'm pathetic, or i'm happy. i'll choose to say "i'm happy."

i also think that i like being alone in other ways. i can not tell you how much better i feel now that i've allowed myself to be free of relationships with men. either this is a hiatus, or i am actually maturing, its too soon to say. i mean, being able to walk around school, go out at night, day to day activities, without having to wonder if i will meet someone, or if i am presenting myself the right way. maybe it just took me this long to figure out what normal life is like, who knows. what i do know, is that i am going to travel as soon as i graduate, and not having a deadline of going back to school, or a man friend to miss puts me at ease. i like this alone thing. although this isn't entirely accurate, i like this drawing nonetheless :)

i love & spend most of my time online frequenting design blogs from some pretty respected people out there. this site, ISO50, a blog by artist scott hansen provided some GREAT ideas for an artist stuck in a creative rut. this guy interviewed 52 designers around the world, and posted their answers. trust the advice from the best :}

i have found one of my FAVORITE new blogs. music. art. design. music. movies. music. oh man. in need of a new wallpaper? kitsune noir has legit artists designing new ones erry wednesday; its called "The Desktop Wallpaper Project." here, you can find (21 pages so far, i checked) one suitable for any [design-savvy] desktop :) here are a few screenshots of some of my fav's:

ready for some visual slash audio crack? holy #$%!! you have to CHECK THIS OUT!!! the director used over 400 painted blocks, black light, and 4085 photographs in stop-motion to create one of the coolest videos, for one of the coolest sounds i have ever heard. if you're into psycho-electronic music with a beat that will break glass, check out 'nobody beats the drum; grindin.' you will NOT be disappointed. insanity. i can't get over this...

ke rn

currently listening to: sumiregusa, enya
currently craving: a coffee date
currently, currently: hot laptop on my legs

so i found this site, and somehow i have wasted many many nights searching through the archives and creating my fantasy wardrobe. here is one i made. i feel 12 again....but with more expensive clothes.

i also found some jewelry that i found hilarious. enjoy. and someone buy this for me:

i was browsing a favorite design blog and found an image i loved. i've been trying to create designs using colored smoke and incorporating dancers/figures into the image similar to this image [although this far surpasses mine.] little did i know, this band is brilliant!!! delphic, an alternative dance/electronic band from the UK released an album very recently (2009, and singles in 2010) that are worth checking out. loveee euro bands.

and i really like this light sculpture by artist james clar & associates, who is now working out of Dubai. this piece is interesting because it speaks of the dynamics of relationships. there are 9 ballasts that hang from the ceiling (device that maintains the current in a circuit at a constant value by varying its resistance), with wires that support and provide electricity to the fluorescent bulbs. i can't tell if it is commenting on the fact that other people are there to provide a constant flow of support for "me," or if "me" is the most important contender in "you and me."

interestingggg....

please give us more hype

currently listening to: mouthful of diamonds, phantogram
currently craving: juice
currently, currently: messy hair

yesterday was my last first day of classes. i still don't think i get it. i've been rushing to get through school my entire life, and this semester i'm sure will be no different, but i want to remember the last semester of college as the best part. i have my work cut out for me...printmaking, digital imaging, web design, and senior sem. t-minus one month until someone finds me frothing at the mouth on the ground in my studio. here's to graduating!

took a trip to visit kyle at stout last weekend and had the best time :) :) his room perfectly matches his personality, as well as his friends there. the campus is in a college town, with not much else going on but we definitely found fun things to keep us occupied. all i have to say "I LOVE GARBAGEEE!" i can get that.

i saw this and thought it was fantastic...this site is great.

lately, i've been obsessing over post-it art. artist marc johns is no exception. these are witty, and flat out hilarious
